   So.. my father's old iphone6. I erased his apple id a week ago. Thought of resetting the phone and just give it to a family member as an extra phone. Seems cant reset an iphone without the apple id on it. That doesn't exist anymore. I find this dumb.

     @thisisthebreath The erasing function requires me to log in with the apple id on the phone. That ID does not exist anymore. Even if I say no to make a backup to cloud. Unless there is a workaround? I havent found any on the web.

     1. I understand it can be to make it hard for phone thieves. But not having the id anymore... that is daft.
     2. the ID on the phone exists only on the phone, cant replace it without loggin in to it. The id that doesn't exist on apple servers anymore.

     @inscius Probably is retain you as a customer. Maybe, and that's a big maybe it's to create difficulties for phone thieves, but I guess that as has been already said if you take it to an Apple store they can help you.
