First 3D-printed metal part on the International Space Station
In August, a 'technology demonstrator' built by the European Space Agency and Airbus printed a metal part in microgravity conditions. This is an important milestone: long-term space missions aren't possible unless humans figure out a way to create spare parts and construction components and print tools on demand.
