    Someone call the burn unit.

I’m reasonably certain I know how Mrs Tek and Tek Jrs will vote, as we’ve discussed and shared our reasons. I’ll be damned if I’d ever ask to see their ballots or even ask them to confirm. That’s some creepy-ass behavior. A private ballot is one of the things I hold most sacred.

@fubar SAME! Yes, I like *the idea* of it, but the implications give me the heebie-jeebies. I imagine a husband "helping" his wife check the right boxes, or an employer having a mandatory voting day (because they're so civic-minded, of course!) where everyone votes from the office cafeteria.

      Yeah, no.

@Forbo I do exactly the same. I whip up a little voter guide for my family (and friends who ask for it) that says why I like one person over another, or why I do or don't like some random ballot measure. I don't follow up though unless they ask for more details. It's purely informational -- “here's who I like and why” -- but it's up to each to vote their own conscience.

@tek I let my wife cheat off my ballot, because I take time to dig through all the candidate profiles and research the initiatives. We share pretty similar views and trusts my judgement, but I also let her know any places that I think we might differ and my reasoning for why I picked them. That way she doesn't have to slog through it all but can still pick how she wants.

@Forbo AND, my wife has changed my opinion on things plenty of times. It's not a one-way classroom lesson. We talk about things like grown-ups and equals. And at the end of the day, we don't have to agree on everything.

@tek It's amazing what you can accomplish in a relationship when you have healthy communication, whodathunk?! Kudos on compiling your findings for others, I barely have the bandwidth to do it for myself. 😮💨

@Forbo Right? Communicating like grown adults? Who knew!

Heh, my "guide" is basically the notes I took for myself so that I could figure out what to vote for. Most of the high profile candidates are pretty easy, but when you start getting into which 2 of 5 people you want to put on the board of the local subway system, it's easy to lose track.
