You are correct. Theory AND practice are necessary to make a revolution happen. Theory without practice is meaningless because words alone can't change the world. Practice without theory is like flying an airplane without going to pilots school or doing any job that requires education on how to perform the tasks of the job without first acquiring that education.

Why not just learn the first time and significantly decrease, or even eliminate, the possible of a crash?

Yes, in a way you are right.
I say "gentleman [and -*women] start your engines - you can read the handbook after takeoff".
But the first flight crashes anyway.
People will learn something from it no matter how well they were or weren't prepared.
And they'll do better next time.

I'm talking about the importance of revolutionary theory in revolutionary action. I don't see how having an understanding of revolutionary theory would be against anarchism. Anarchism also has revolutionary theory, and there are anarchists who prioritize revolutionary theory as an important part of revolution.
