     Just make sure they're active, not passive. I usually use emg myself.

     @Chzikken_1486 That's a great tip. I'm scared to install new pickups but it's not like it's hard. Is there a specific model you would recommend? I guess I only need to replace the bridge.

     The only extra wiring with an active are the batteries. Emg pickups are plug n play. You can't get a high gain sound without them. Passive does put enough juice into the preamp to get the compression required for a real metal sound.

     I use a tiple rectifier with 6l6s on a half stack with a Randall with mixed 6l6/el34s on a half stack.

     True, but it boils down to the amp with a master volume to attenuate the sound
