OK so, you guys, and #Mastodon4Harris, I live in a battleground state that is so schizophrenic, who the fuck knows what's gonna happen next week, but I did my MoveOn.org chore and "contacted 3-5 friends" to make sure they have a voting plan and I convinced my relatively apolitical up-north brother-in-law to change his plans to fly back home on Monday so he can vote Tuesday. It's a dumb tiny thing but it feels like an actual fucking victory, so take whatever you wish from this story, but I hope one thing you will take is little things help.
But also, look at the responses to the OP to, if you don't, kind of GET how important just activating one or two or three people in your life is. Even if they think you're the SUPER-POLITICAL-WEIRDO. My brother-in-law is completely party unafiliated, but, just given the choice, he will vote straight-ticket D just because of how fucking AWFUL he knows the GOP has become. It won't be like that everywhere with everyone, I know, but, kids, he SWITCHED FLIGHTS to do this.
It's just such important true-grassroots shit. Reach out, if you're able. And my thanks to the MoveOn kids who texted to remind me.
And guys, to be clear, I'm not saying this for backpats, I'm saying it cuz, as few "apolitical" people as I know - and it is very very few - we all MAY know someone who just has shit going on and just isn't AS-online-radicalized-and-activated as we are and, y'know, it's not that they don't give a shit but things pile up and maybe this wasn't on their radar when they planned other shit. Don't have to hardsell - cuz I didn't - but maybe you can help with a little nudge.
