The German word "Ding" means "thing".
But there's also "Dings" - which kann be used in several ways:
- "der Dings" or "die Dings": a man or woman whose name you don't remember (better not used when talking TO that person).
- das Dings: a thing that you can't name
- Dingsda: extended version with the same meaning
- Dingens: same as Dings
- Dingenskirchen: a town or other place the name of which you don't know
