   @machaddr Algol was the soul of the Burroughs B6700 mainframe in my University but only BASIC and Fortran courses were offered to the undergrads. Algol was reserved for advanced courses in some careers only :(

Born on November 2, 1916, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, van Wijngaarden's work is noted for its foundational impact on the development of computer science, particularly in designing ALGOL 68.
