   the vast majority of construction work isn't mentally difficult. It takes a lot of physical exertion yeah.
   
   But there is that 10% of total effort which really matters - ensuring properly lap stuff, cutting corner pieces properly, etc .. which makes a huge amount of difference.
   
   Truly understanding that the majority of work in painting is the prep work allows you to do a good job and not sloppy work like a bunch of immigrant day laborers.

     @sickburnbro I think in around 10-20 years most working class houses will be either prefabricated or assembly line constructed, if for no other reason than for quality control.

     Side note. House framing is the easiest thing in the world, it's also the easiest thing in the world to get wrong if you forgot where the load is being carried or if you can't be bothered to plumb and square the walls you've just raised.
     
     Remember. The Amish build fine homes with basic hand tools and an 8th grade education.
