@bastianallgeier It sounds difficult for 1 lt of gasoline to produce 2.5kg CO₂ . It's lighter than water, so 1 lt weights less than 1 kg (0.75 kg apparently), so it's gaseous byproducts have to weigh even less.
I can't find a decent source to cross-reference, but maybe it's 2.37 grams of CO₂ per litter of fuel, hence 1000 x 12 the amount of full tanks needed?
Don't want to argue against the contribution of individual cars, but it sounds harder to visualize.
