the pokemon leaks remind me a lot of, like super old European fairy tales. When I was a kid we had this book that was a collection of these. Older than Grimm fairy tales, early middle ages. But even as a kid I was like, "wow this is some schizo gibberish." The Game Freak stuff reminds me a lot of that.
