This leaves people helpless and wishing they had some control over the situation. Holding a key is such a small responsibility compared to every user running their own server, but gives them the same amount of freedom if not more.

@alex @0371db7fd4437ce63e60dedc313cad6ee8b17fc691fe05231f9a140134fc0d08 @deep Yes, you are right in technical aspects, but that is very high entry barrier.

I remember how much confusion was to explain to people from Twitter that there is no single entity and instead, you need to choose one and talk to anothers. With relays, it's even more confusing because you don't have even that.

The onboarding process in Nostr might be eased with apps, for instance, Amethyst will create a private key for you, but backing this key, etc. Good luck with adopting this. I just don't see that happening in this generation.

The issue here is not as technological as UX-related.

@alex @0371db7fd4437ce63e60dedc313cad6ee8b17fc691fe05231f9a140134fc0d08 @deep I managed, so we're good, but I use keys to access various repos at work and it's not an issue for me. Wider adoption, however, tsk, that's another aspect. And no amount of “keys are safer” will change that.

This also translates to oversaturation with Bitcoin there, which might not be appealing to be hit with initially. That being said, I'm following the progress. There is certainly a lot of positive energy in the community.
