@bobdobberson I don't think so. Coffee was an extremely dominant beverage until the late midcentury when soft drinks took over. Coffee got relegated to a utilitarian drink because the industry was largely okay with things being that way. It was really only through Starbucks mass-marketing espresso drinks in the 90s that things started to change, and that was because the drinks were fancy indulgences. You can see a similar trend with beer.
