    I've archived these 4 disks from 1991 from Passport Designs containing midi files at the start of the General #Midi Mania. Best hear with a proper hardware midi synths, but I guess software render GM is not too shabby nowadays. dl#5 is a straight zip with all of them inside. https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/midi-hits-collection

      MIDI Hits Collection - Macintosh Garden
      MIDI Hits is a disk based collection of MIDI song files from Passport, released in 1991. These disks are 800kb and each contain a handful of midi files meant to be played back on a general MIDI device. These file names are marked with 'GM' at the start of their names.
