   I'm #losingmydad. skip over this toot if you don't want to get sad about it with me. 🥀🧵

   it sucks, it sucks a lot. he's been fighting a blood disease called myelodysplastic syndrome which is a scientific way of saying "not cancer _yet._"

   it is now full blown acute myeloid leukemia. he has weeks to live.

   the part about this that sucks the most is how the final chapter of his life is being stolen from me. he has this disease bc he served as an Airman during Vietnam fueling bomber planes. (1/?)

     Ok this is 4/? of this🧵... today's teacup tempest is whether or not Dad's palliative care treatment plan includes blood transfusions when his hemo goes <7. He's getting transferred to the Martinez VA CREC today. He called me this am upset, is the liter he received yesterday his last? Mom has already been in contact with the CREC doc so she's dispatched to ask. I want his hospice to be at home but qualification for the VA to pay burial costs etc. is more difficult that way. Whew 😮💨 #losingmydad

     it happened. he's already gone.

     at least, i was with him at the time. ❤️

     it was yesterday around 1pm. his heart just finally gave out. it was scary but it was quick and i'm just so damn proud of him. warrior to the end.

     i think that's all i've got for now.

     Love you Dad. forever. 😭

     #losingmydad i'm a pacifist, so this reality has a special twinge of pain for me. bleech. i don't know how else he wldve afforded college. but I'm really glad he did go to school because he's a brilliant chemist, computer scientist and hacker. right now he's committed to re-submitting his PhD dissertation, which he always intended to do someday.

     besides visiting him everyday i'm also going to attempt to catalogue all the equipment, tools, parts and whatnot he's collected over the years. (2/n)

     #losingmydad there are 4+ vehicles, two lawnmowers, weed whackers, pumps, an engine crane... this is where i get really sad bc i'm going to miss the way he could explain everything, anything, vacuum pump to quantum mechanics. so much. 😞

     so yeah it's slow going. there are a bunch of household fix-it projects that also need to be managed. but my sister is helping and the kids and my mom too.

     nice to get some of my thoughts out of my head and onto this page. thx for reading. more later... (3/n)
