How anyone can continue to stay involved in the WordPress project in any way other than looking for an exit (I get people gotta eat) at this point is beyond me.
The project is morally bankrupt.

But… it wasn’t enough when community members were abused and bullied out of the project so I’m guessing for most it won’t be enough now either. Just keep drinking the “community” Koolaid and pretend it’s all ok as long as it doesn’t happen to you personally.
@chris Although having to manually update ACF, upgrade to pro, or switch to a "fork" will personally affect a heck of a lot of people (millions?).
Also every plugin dev now has to worry that their plugin may be next. At this rate, I think there won't be many left who can sit back and ignore the nonsense.
I think leaving/switching may be difficult to do for many people so it wouldn't surprise me if it takes a few months to really see the impact
@treadlightly it’ll take time. Many do need their income. I don’t think anyone has an excuse any longer to not work towards getting away from it though.
@jrouet there’s a reason I left any company that has anything to do with Wordpress.
@chris I can share a few reasons: because I invested so much time and energy, still having plans for it and made good friends in the process? And eventually I focused my career on it since I left the university?
I’ve been reading your blog for a long time, I guess being not part of a company from the ecosystem helps you saying it. Just an observation, not a judgement! :)
Not sure if tjis is in referemce to but if you remeber our very first interaction on the fedi.... we have come full circle my friend. Welcome to the bandwagon, we have cookies.
@freemo I’m sorry to say I don’t remember it directly but it should’ve been about the time I last used Hugo so. Yeah. Lol
@chris I wouldnt expect you to remeber. I just ezpressed my dislike for wprdpress and we had a brief exchange. You were respectful but disagreed which usually geta a follow from me.
