I kept my old Florida number on a voip service after switching to a Chicago number last fall. The service is getting more expensive and everything important has been moved to the new number. Haven’t had anything but spam on it since 11 Jan (I kept a record saying it would need to go unused for 6 months before I dropped it). I think it’s time to let that bit of my history go.

Chris Wiegman (chris@mastodon.chriswiegman.com)'s status on Monday, 07-Oct-2024 01:22:59 JST Chris Wiegman @alpha1beta I tried but the porting of this one failed (I think it’s the voip service I’m currently using that is at fault). If it was an email domain I would keep it forever but with phone numbers these days it doesn’t seem as important.

alpha1beta (alpha1beta@libretweet.com)'s status on Monday, 07-Oct-2024 01:23:00 JST alpha1beta @chris you can create a new gmail and port it to google voice and as long as you use it once every 3 months you can keep it. I literally have a gmail called NAME9999999999@gmail to hold onto one.
