   I never assumed I own any Steam or GOG games. I just got them when they were super cheap because it was more convenient than pirating them.

     @kaia It's said in the license tho, you don't own them.
     Same for free/libre software you don't own it but the rights of the GPL license would be the same as if you owned it.

     @mangeurdenuage that's what I said. it was a comment in view of Steam changing its ToS to explicitly re-state it and certain users being angry.

     @kaia Precisely. (Is it because we know a thing or two about software licensing? Perhaps.) It is true, though, that the DRM-free nature of GOG games makes me think I can ignore the terms of that licence more readily. Still, I don't expect GOG to make those available to me perpetually beyond the initial download.
