You can't have the monstrosity that is a "browser" and also have it be developed as a community.

You will have to accept something less. When you look at it from that perspective you see that corporations introducing this complex thing that needs a corporation to sustain development is a "first one is free" situation.

This is a general degrowth pattern/problem. Western humans don't like letting go of features, even if they don't need them.
