Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: (lanodan@queer.hacktivis.me)'s status on Thursday, 03-Oct-2024 23:30:15 JST Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: @xarvos @navi I'm pretty sure most SATA HDDs come with serial console port, just that most people don't know about it because it's typically not documented expect maybe for hardware repair shops.
Like on Westen Digital HDDs it's 8 pins kind of like the master/slave/cable-select pins you'd have on IDE drives, on Seagate HDDs it's 4 pins instead.
Sadly for SATA SSDs I've had my hands on so far you have to open them up and solder some pins kind of like hacking a game console.- feld likes this.
