   it's wild that I only saw someone describe Github as an embrace-extend-extinguish attempt on git for the first time a few years ago. it's so obvious in retrospect.

     @jplebreton I it’s such a self-replicating problem, since the people who have the skillsets to build ease-of-use layers often have no need for those layers themselves :/

     @clarity as it turns out, "do one thing, and do it well (and screw anyone who finds it hard to use)" is very susceptible to the particular form of EEE that involves building an ease of use layer around the open thing.
