   @GossiTheDog I'm surprised.. Normally it's said if the chip is already damaged by the faulty microcode then the only solution is RMA - the updates just stop it getitng worse.

     @GossiTheDog as a hardware expert with over 3 decades of experience, including a great deal of experience with CPU failures: NO.

     IT DOES NOT FIX ANYTHING.

     If it was unstable, THE CPU HAS PHYSICAL DAMAGE. SEVERE IRREPARABLE DAMAGE. IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED.
     YOUR CPU IS A BRICK.

     RMA it to Intel. If they argue, remind them they admitted fault publicly.
