   Israel has always been its own worst enemy. It has been at war since its inception, and it has rejected, ignored, or undermined any serious peace plan because it has no intention of allowing a sovereign Palestinian state to exist even within the greatly diminished territories of Gaza and the West Bank. It wants that land and even more besides.

     Israel has perpetuated the conflict as a justification for its never-ending "defense," in which it has stolen more land, fired more missiles, more artillery, and killed more people than its adversaries ever could, in violation of international law.

     Netanyahu went so far as to support Hamas to keep Palestinians politically divided and disregarded intelligence about October 7 to have a pretext for a politically self-serving war, a way out of his dire legal situation.

     The US has sold billions in weapons to Israel knowing they would be used to violently maintain the occupation and apartheid regime and for the purposes of territorial expansion.

     It has turned a blind eye to war crimes and illegal settlements in the West Bank in order to continue doing so.

     It has disregarded its own laws and used its diplomatic influence and Security Council veto to protect Israel from any consequences at the UN.

     The US is complicit.
