  Given how bad things are in western NC, this is could possibly have a global impact, as it becomes difficult to manufacture semiconductors and PV panels...

  1. How do | express that I’'m concerned S e - about the people of western NC and I’'m also concerned about the potential future global economic disaster because Spruce Pine is the sole producer of ultra pure Quartz for crucibles that all global semiconductor production relies on?

The road runs to the two mines that is the sole supplier of the quartz required to make the crucibles needed to refine silicon wafers. There are no alternative sources known. From Conway’s Material World: two mines 1n Spruce Pine with a crop duster loaded with a very particular powder, you could end the world’s production of semiconductors and solar panels within six months.” No high-purty quartz means...
