   Call me old fashioned, but I still think it’s appropriate to isolate if you’re sick.

     @Apiary old fashioned would really be "no you can't stay home from school because you're sick unless you're vomiting or have diarrhea or way too high of a fever."
     
     And also being told we wouldn't be able to stay home from work if we were sick unless it's so bad that you MUST use a sick day (if you have them), or you just work while you're sick so you don't get fired.
     
     Unfortunately our culture will not change overnight
