  I talked about it a lot back in August, the "Buwan ng Wika" (Language Month). 1. Filipino has 6 basic vowels. Tagalog only have 5 basic vowels. 2. Filipino was originally based on the Manilenyo dialect of the Tagalog language, contrary to popular belief that it was based on the entire Tagalog language. 3. Filipino already diverged far away from the Tagalog language itself, even to its original based "Manilenyo dialect of the Tagalog language".
