     The simple answer to this, which I believe is correct, is no.
     
     Because the claim "well there is someone elected to your area who is supposed to represent you" is just a poorly constructed lie - representation means your opinion being reflected in policy.

     I mean democracy in society as we know it, with all the controlling and influencing powers that exist. It can work in some circumstances.
