Alexandre Oliva (lxo@gnusocial.net)'s status on Friday, 27-Sep-2024 02:05:33 JST Alexandre Oliva if you had that time, you could use it to get everything you need, and still be better off than in the current system. that's the essence of what you and I are for, if you think of it in a less superficial way. -

Alexandre Oliva (lxo@gnusocial.net)'s status on Friday, 27-Sep-2024 04:02:59 JST Alexandre Oliva the theory is that if we didn't have to sell our time for little, we could keep more of the value of what we produce in that time. I'm pretty sure you're familiar with the idea -

I suppose the point I was making was that we need to do more than just reduce working hours and increase wages. A complete seizing of the means of production by the working class is necessary to make real change. Otherwise, any wage increases or working hour reductions will still ultimately serve the ruling capitalist class.

Alexandre Oliva (lxo@gnusocial.net)'s status on Friday, 27-Sep-2024 10:03:54 JST Alexandre Oliva I'm not saying you're wrong, just missing a point for being too strict in that reading
we don't really need the shit, the horrible-quality goods that the current system wants us to sell us
we do need healthy food, clean water, sustainable clothes and public healthcare. none of this is shit, and we can't really buy any of that. we need a different system to have that. -

The post was referencing graffiti that said "you don't need the shit you buy," and I was just contesting that by pointing out that we indeed do need the food, water, etc, that are sold to us. There was not a single untrue thing in that comment.
