     @Hoss The price is fake news (the regular roomette price is half that, it's like saying airplane tickets are expensive if you book them last minute), and sure, you can drive yourself for 24 hours if you'd like to. Many would! Go ahead!

     @yockeypuck @Hoss The problem that Amtrak has had for a while is that it's not a place you'd like to spend 48 nonstop hours.
     
     You could make a train ride rival the comforts of a highest end plane flight, and for a relatively low investment make it very interesting.

     You can use the more stops and travel time to your advantage.
