     @LukeAlmighty Gaby's Mary Sue tendencies was the biggest issue for me - she had characters being really emotionally invested in protecting her despite objectively having every reason to hate her.

     @LukeAlmighty Honestly, the anime made her way more sympathetic than the manga, by framing her shameless war crime as a selfless act done to save Eldian lives, rather than a rash stunt carried out to gain glory.

     Almost makes me wonder if she was the reason for the final chapter's complete rewrite of the ending.

     The guy wrote 6 story arcs of heroic jurney, followed by 2 mirrored story arcs. Briliant, if done correctly, and it WAS!!!. But I guess he was just too afraid, that the miss self genocide didn't manage to pull the huge role, so he had to pull the zero IQ requiem instead. (Still dunb move, though. The mirrored story did work amazingly as it was even without the sympathy he was hoping for)
