   My (vintage early 2018) home desktop has now locked up mysteriously while idle twice in less than a week (early morning of September 16th and now around 11am today). This could be (Linux) software, or motherboard/CPU hardware, or case/PSU/whatever; it's hard to tell. Dear desktop: I would like to not buy a replacement yet. Please stop doing that.

     @cks I had the same problem with a similar aged desktop. I bought a new power supply and the problem went away. I didn't install the power supply. It is still in the shrink wrap.

     stupid computers.
