"Burning the 8 cancer-causing chemicals in East Palestine generated even more cancer-causing agents. Thompson identified a total of 119. Exposure could cause up to 21 different types of cancers.
One of the most concerning aspects of the disaster is residents were exposed to a slew of haz chemicals in one incident. Little is known about this type of exposure. What happens when a population is bombarded with hundreds of hazardous substances simultaneously? We don't know."
