A consistent ttrpg pet peeve of mine is invoking “the camera” as a default, known concept. What camera??? ttrpgs draw from deep roots of oral storytelling, so viewing the fiction through an imaginary screen is an unnecessary layer of indirection.
Imagine reading a book and out of nowhere it was like “and then the camera pans over to show the monster behind her”. It feels like our vocabulary has been so overtaken by screen metaphor that we’ve collectively forgotten what a story is!
