     Mastodon’s announcement of Fediscovery is great news and an exciting development for the entire social web that could open new frontiers for connectivity between servers.

     It was also great to see the growing interest in the Fediverse, with folks from Threads, Flipboard, Ghost, Bluesky and elsewhere dialing in to update us on their latest developments and join the wider conversations.

     There were plenty of other projects and topics at FediForum, showing again the diversity and dynamism within the social web’s ecosystem.

     We were particularly impressed by demos for Open Science Network from Bonfire, the podcast platform TrueFans and the Bandcamp alternative Bandwagon. Plus the ActivityPub Data Observatory looks like a great tool for builders!

     Meanwhile, I co-convened a session with ProPublica’s @ben on overcoming barriers faced by journalists and news organisations in joining the social web.

     Both sessions saw lively discussions and we’ve come away with plenty to think about.

     Hopefully we can keep these conversations going outside of FediForum.

     After our demo, we received some wonderful feedback and comments from attendees, and we really appreciated the warmth in the room towards both Newsmast and our new initiatives.

     We also got stuck in with wider conversations. Our founder @michael co-convened a session on grassroots organising in the Fediverse, centred on @KamalaHarrisWin which we helped build.
