@Tony If you need your VPS to be able to dial something on your home network you should look into setting up a vpn tunnel.
This is a time honored method of circumventing CGNAT, it's what I've done for years.

oh that makes sense. I just know when I was setting up the VPS it couldn't connect to ipv4 internet and when I would ping the router i would lose all the packets. I didn't get much farther from that because I got annoyed lol

So yeah, you'll want to connect the VM to the vps over wireguard, then on the vps you configure nginx or raw portforwarding to expose the service actually running on your vm, then the application running on your vm will be accessible over the internet

I care a lot about the work I do and it is personally insulting to see someone do a worse job than me on purpose.
Programming is like carpentry, and I can't do anything about Ikea.
It's frustrating because it doesn't have to be that way since code is pure abstraction(ish). With furniture (e.g.) at least there's real material constraints but with programming, there's no reason to cut corners and put out sloppy work, except that you could get away with it. It's scummy and dishonest imo.

@bot @Tony @Nudhul I acknowledged that, but due to the nature of software the ONLY cost is human effort, not material. It's vanishingly small by comparison because digital information, once created, is virtually free to replicate and transmit, and stupidly cheap to store.
Software is unique in this respect in my opinion, that's why I contrasted it with traditional industries.
It just pisses me off that seemingly EVERY person who shits out software is a lazy nigger, especially when it is so easy for that not to be the case.
