     Was a sysop too, eventually of my own system (although really a system is also owned by its users).
     
     I remember thinking 24oo baudz was unbelievably fast...

     @amerika When I started out, I started at 1200 baud and most everyone in my neighborhood was quite jealous as they were all still on 300 baud at the time. So they looked up to me to run something with that faster speed.

     I had a deliciously misspent youth.
     
     I remember staying up all night to patch into a neighbor's phone line and download warez from local BBSes without my parents picking up the phone to screw up the transfer and thwart me.

     @amerika I spent numerous all nighters doing very similar things. I spent so much of my youth using BBS's, and in fact, even ran my own for quite some time.

     TextFiles.com is such an awesome site! Love that place.
