In 2022, Democrats won a majority of seats in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the first time in over a decade with the slimmest of margins: 102 seats to 101 for the Republicans. During the ensuing two-year term, 10 special elections were held, 8 of which needed to be won by Democrats in order to retain their majority. They won all 8, including 2 on September 17.
