     Let this settle in: Vance’s staff asked the Springfield city manager if the pet eating crap was true. He told them no. Yet Ohio’s sitting senator continued to push it anyway.

     They were told “no” by the city manager BEFORE Trump took this garbage to the debate stage.

     REASONABLE PERSON: Well, I guess the lesson here is don't knowingly spread lies.

     CONSERVATIVE POLITICIAN: Well, I guess the lesson here is don't try to verify whether rumors are true so you can't be accused of lying later.
