@mozilla this is such a bummer. I thought Mozilla's experiments with the social web were truly some of the most exciting (and sustainable) things Mozilla has worked on in years. Really sad that it's getting shut down so early.
@docpop@Blisterexe@mozilla the most worrying aspect for me is that Firefox never used Mastodon, they post on threads, but they do not use the Fediverse integration.
@docpop@Blisterexe@mozilla Some team-specific accounts have moved to other instances but I wouldn't hold my breath on the main account to be very active in the future.
@Blisterexe@docpop@mozilla this is just pathetic, the cost to maintain a instance of ~200 users such as this is super low. This won't make any difference for the company.
@docpop@mozilla of course, mozila has enough time and money to implement new google-forced web bullshit instead of boycott it, has enough resources to make breaking changes in FF interface every release, making any customization to firefox and friends impossible, making changes in it's web engine that making any firefox-based apps existance almost impossible (thunderbird, seamonkey, etc...), but has not enough time and money to host some not very large AP instance. Mozilla was symbol of open web, but now it even cannot host open social network Not a surprize
@kariboka@docpop@mozilla they were not just maintaining an instance. they also has very strict moderation, which requires employing multiple people full time
But its not up for debate mozilla employed multiple people to operate it, wouldnt you rather they invest that money into firefox, or something they can make money from?
