   The US response to chinas high quality industrial pivot is desperate. 100% tarrifs on electric cars and components, a patchwork ban on huawei 5g drones and biotech, and the tiktok witch hunt all come across as a mad scramble to prevent china from smashing through western "containment" policy that dates back to the cold war.
   
   This is the same reactionary nonsense that's plagued the US in the 80s when Japan outpaced US automakers.
