Aaaand it's dead. Almost. The top part has wilted. Several needles have dried out. Not sure if it was the change in weather, the wind, the sun, or what. I've put it on life support but I don't have much hope.

Update: of the 100 or so giant sequoia/redwood seeds I sowed at the end of April, this little guy was the only one that sprang up... hang in there!
Update: baby giant redwood's first needles
Baby giant sequoia is definitely getting lots of needles now, but I'm a bit worried about the stem being still so thin.
Last year I collected some giant sequoia (AKA giant redwood) pine cones here in France, I've just extracted the seeds (must be on the order of 500...) and put some in water. These are notoriously hard to germinate but let's see!
It is said that you can offset a lifetime of CO2 emissions by growing a single one of these trees, since they are the largest trees in the world, but that's an oversimplification. Still pretty cool though.
