     Are there any courses that teach home students this?

     I was never taught this skill, I think.

     I did teach it extensively as an EAP lecturer to non-native speakers (Chinese...) who may not be aware of the validity of certain sources in a foreign culture.

     News in the age of social media is a foreign culture?
