   my read on this is that the companies aren't hiring because the market is sour, but aren't cutting yet because they still expect it to pick back up after the fed capitulates.

     I'm in construction. We're hearing that a lot of big projects got put on hold until after the election. Our trade is still very busy and trying our best to get new people. This is typical election year stuff

     @notabnormal there is certainly a lot due to uncertainty of the election, but a huge amount is because of the problems in CRE and interest rates which make financing complicated for stuff.
