djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Friday, 06-Sep-2024 09:48:28 JST djsumdog Void is pretty good. I run it on my work laptop and a few servers. The package manager is already, but the naming sucks (I install `vpm` which is a much nicer frontend to `xbps-*`). The init system, `runit` is .. okay. It's very simplistic, which is helpful for debugging and understanding what services are really doing, but not as robust as other supervisors. -

djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Friday, 06-Sep-2024 12:45:13 JST djsumdog I've only used it to build some non-free packages I need on my work machine like so:
#!/usr/bin/env fish set packages "zoom slack-desktop 1password sublime-text4 google-chrome" cd $HOME/src/void-packages git pull for i in (string split " " $packages) echo Building: $i ./xbps-src pkg "$i" end sudo xbps-install --repository=hostdir/binpkgs/nonfree (string split " " $packages)There are some package templates I want to make, and they shouldn't be too difficult, but I just haven't gotten around to it.

Tadano (tadano@mt.watamelon.win)'s status on Friday, 06-Sep-2024 12:45:16 JST Tadano @djsumdog @theorytoe @mischievoustomato did you figure out how to use xbps-src? The fact it's pretty much a ports system with which I can either get stuff like I can from the AUR or create my own template to install/upgrade/manage packages always sounded enticing.
