– dealt with the press on her own terms;
– dealt with MAGA on her own terms;
– dealt with both Big Oil and climate groups on her own terms;
– and now also the polls:
“Let’s not pay too much attention to those polls.”
Looks like she knows what's real - the voters - and what's just a distraction.

This is a ploy to make her take a stand on a divisive issue, and one that particularly affects a swing state, Pennsylvania.
She has no obligation to respond to the manipulation.

Heather Cox Richardson, the historian with a sharp eye for current affairs, observes that Harris has her own terms of engagement with the MAGA GOP.
And it's working.
