    Can someone on Threads tell this person that they don't have Fediverse turned on? They're trying to say Hi to us, but we can't respond here.

      @BeAware If the person is in Europe, they cannot turn the Fediverse on. Sniff sniff.

      @a true...i did not think about that.🤦♂️

      GDPR is good, but in some cases there should be a way to say "hey, I know my data might not be able to be deleted, but that's a risk I'm willling to take" for those that would take that risk.

      @BeAware I have a threads account and was looking for the Fediverse button for days until I discovered it's only for non-EU members. I think the GDPR arguments from Meta doesn't make sense as the protocol allow the deletion.

      @BeAware Indeed it's a valid point, some software doesn't support deletion from the protocol. But I suppose it's a minority looking at the stats and the argument could be the same for any Internet crawler or even common crawl dataset. There is no issue for those datasets. Maybe the Meta lawyers are too picky... or they had something else in mind when connecting.

      @BeAware Hmmm…it appears that @kukapishixdd is on the #Fediverse. I might say “Welcome” via my Mastodon account! 😂
