The problem with Vance isn't that he's a nerd, although that isn't helping him. The problem isn't even that he's trying to be a kind of relatable person he isn't. (Although this also isn't helping.)

The problem is he's just not interested in ordinary people. Or possibly people at all. He doesn't care if you work at a donut shop, or if it's hot, or about the audiences that credulously gather to listen to him. He isn't happy to see them. Isn't listening and it shows.
