   Sitting here being pissy about government overreach and I muttered to myself:

   "The government can outlaw as much encryption as they want, if the bad guys have two coins and a pencil, they can make as much unbreakable encryption as they want with a one-time pad."

   I wondered where I got that line, so I searched it, and I didn't know six years ago when I said it, either.

     @newt i was just reading it as a smol in school and they submarined us all with "oh now write reports about your recreational book haha fuck you" and the parents got in a tizzy at the time like "you're not going to half ass it this time! an outline for every chapter!!"
     
     so yeah that book has like a hundred chapters. one of them is literally the guy just wakes up and shaves his face and then scene shifts to something else.
     
     anyway horrible torture upon anyone who mandates book reports

     ... though his old books were written in emacs :neocat_3c: (he abandoned it for scrivener later on but, well.)
