It bothers me that so many of us are becoming comfortable with the idea that collapse is inevitable.
Asked individually we want the forecast collapse to be a self-preventing prophecy rather than a self-fulfilling one. But the systems we are embedded in have imperatives for growth and preservation that put them in conflict with the long term survival of the society they constitute.
Resistance to collapse requires a willingness to reform institutions that is broadly speaking; not available until collapse is already in process.
