    Did you know that when you use the Share button on YouTube to share a video, that it has tracking embedded in the link?

    This type of tracking allows google to "link" your socials together to your YouTube account to better profile you.

    If you don't want that, always be sure to remove the "si=long string of text" from the link before opening it.

    Save yourself some worry.

    You can also paste the link into https://invidi.link and hit "Go random" and those sites don't have tracking at all, ever. Nor do they have ads!

      @BeAware Google has made sure that I don't share links to their content.

      @BeAware I've grown to be a never-Google guy. I was all in with Home Minis everywhere, Nest thermostat, Google phones... Then they started to do things like break the Nest & Google Home integration (to make me buy a new one) so I left.

      @BeAware It's because they were basically free and I built a smart home after a big accident in 2019 (I had time on my hands and needed an outlet to heal). Giving voice commands becomes so second nature that I'd try to turn on lights in hotels with my voice.

      @BeAware The use case, these days is more getting status of devices or changing device states through voice - turn the lights on, turn off TV (including all the accessories, etc).

      @BeAware @jenzi

      you can search with a youtube link

      Freetube is not great on Android. I recently gave up trying to load any video. I use it on PC.
      I like NewPipe on Android. I wasn't able to import subscriptions or playlists into NewPipe from FreeTube exported files.

      I'm willing to futz with apps that's aren't spying on me.

      I have been trying FOSS programs for awhile.
